The first Saturday of every month at Civic Park in Newcastle is an amazing artisan The Olive Tree market for lovers of design and incredible quality hand made creations plus delicious food. Inside Jo.B has been there for the past 2 and half years showing and selling her one of a kind designs with great support from the Newcastle community. Come join the Shibori Indigo Dyeing workshop for a wonderful social and creative evening. Learn basic methods of this Japanese resist technique expanding your textile knowledge. By also using items from around your own home you can make unique patterns that you can carry on creating into the future.
The deep blue of Indigo Dyeing is pure magic especially when you can learn how to set it up in your own home to revamp clothes and furnishings, or even a way to keep the kids entertained!
Included in workshop:
• tools, gloves and material clamps, pegs, string, etc
• test pieces unbleached cotton fabric (can be napkins)
• 100% cotton scarf, 45 cm x 180 cm
• plenty of natural indigo dye
Very excited to be sharing the Forage, Flower and Fold Natural Dye Workshops in Sydney and Newcastle in October.
Using foraged flowers, leaves, food waste and bark, leaves and materials around your home to create earthy pinks, golden oranges, soft blues, sunshine yellows, light browns, smokey greys. Using the technique to bundle eco dyeing to create a printed array of water colour effect on silk and cotton to other experimentation and techniques.
So many possibilities and this workshop will introduce you to learn basics of natural dyeing easy mordants and how you can set this up at home.
